The Pulse of Fremont: Why Rhythm Is Saving Us
by Miss Mo’ (Morgan Ann Gilkeson), Founder of Mo’ Jam Presents
Welcome to the Center of the Universe.
That’s what we call Fremont — and it’s more than a slogan. It’s a frequency.
Every Monday night, that frequency becomes visible, audible, tangible — at Mo’ Jam Presents, where we just celebrated our 538th episode of community improvisation, leadership, and soul-level listening.
My name is Miss Mo’ — I’m a jazz drummer, rhythm scientist, and founder of this weekly phenomenon that lives at the intersection of groove, growth, and cosmic connection. What began in a tiny jam session over a decade ago is now a fully-formed curriculum of consciousness — and it’s all happening right here in Fremont.
🎵 Mo’ Jam: 538 Mondays of Community Improv
Since 2013, every single Monday at 7:30pm at Nectar Lounge, strangers have stepped on stage to become something greater than the sum of their parts. Without rehearsal or setlist, musicians, poets, painters, and dancers feel into the moment and follow the pulse.
It’s called Mo’ Jam — and it’s not a gig.
It’s not an open mic.
It’s a weekly ritual of togetherness.
It’s a remembrance of what we are when we groove as one.
Some people show up on their way out of the weekend.
We say: extend your weekend into Monday night.
Let Monday become the spiritual encore to your Friday-Sunday storyline.
Start your week with a jam, not a jolt.
🌈 A Rhythm Curriculum Born in Fremont
What most people don’t know is that Mo’ Jam isn’t random.
It’s the living expression of a visionary rhythm education system called the Trifecta, developed right here in Seattle — and tested in full onstage at Nectar Lounge.
🎲 1. The Quantum Rhythm Cube
A color-coded dice-based tool that teaches emotional fluency, group leadership, and improvisational play. It’s used to teach kids and adults alike how to listen and respond through rhythm — not rules.
🥁 2. The Color-Coded Drum Kit
Each drum on my kit is tied to an equation, emotion, planet, and frequency:
· Purple Ride = Vibrational Value (V)
· Red Snare = Energy (E)
· Orange Kick = Knowledge Function (f(k))
· Yellow Hi-Hat = Angular Frequency (ω)
· Blue High Tom = Inverse Time (τ⁻¹)
· Green Floor Tom = Golden Ratio (φ)
· Pink Crash = Participant Power (ηᵖ)
Together, they form the equation:
V = E · f(k) · τ⁻¹ · ω · φ · ηᵖ
Sound complex? It is. And it’s also simple:
It feels good to groove. It heals. It connects. It teaches.
🔊 3. Mo’ Jam Presents
The final flap of the Trifecta — the community-facing, live experiment that proves it works.
Every Monday. Every voice matters. Every rhythm counts.
👁️ The Vision Behind the Beat
This wasn’t built by strategy. It was received.
Through five episodes of bipolar I manic psychosis, I received visions I now understand as sacred curriculum. These were not random symptoms — they were structured initiations that showed me a rhythm-based cosmology.
· A beam of light I call the Infrapurple Pulse connecting us through sound.
· The Om-to-Mo’ Big Bang Theory, where the universe was born in groove.
· A vision of rhythm as sacred currency, where time is measured in vibe, not wage.
These weren’t hallucinations. They were curriculum.
And Mo’ Jam was how I proved it could work.
For 538 weeks straight, we’ve gathered, grooved, and grown.
🌇 Why Fremont? Why Nectar?
Because Fremont is the funk.
Fremont is where the weird lives, where art speaks, and where community experiments are allowed to breathe.
It’s where:
· We turned Monday night into a collective prayer.
· A preschool curriculum based on rhythm and color emerged from a jam session.
· People found their voice through a mic and their tribe through a groove.
· A drummer with a vision turned mental health into method, madness into meaning, and rhythm into a roadmap home.
This is our home base.
This is where the future of education, therapy, and community is being prototyped.
✨ Extend Your Weekend: Join the Movement
So here’s what I’m asking:
Don’t end your weekend on Sunday.
Let it bloom on Monday night with us.
Come to Nectar. Grab a drink. Sit in the pulse. Or better yet, jump on stage.
Paint. Play. Sing. Dance.
Reclaim Monday as sacred.
Because this isn’t just a jam session.
This is The Remembrance.
This is Fremont’s pulse made audible.
This is how we remember what it means to be alive together.

Let’s make Fremont the place that said:
“Why dread Monday when you could groove it?”
And if you’re feeling the rhythm and want to go deeper, I’m currently accepting new private students of all ages — especially drummers ready to unlock their own groove as a form of emotional intelligence and cosmic play. Whether you’re a total beginner or a touring pro, I teach from the inside out. And if you’re not picking up sticks, you can still support the movement just by showing up and sipping something cold at Nectar on Monday nights — the more drinks poured, the longer we keep the jam alive. Rhythm is currency, but tabs help too.
With rhythm,
Miss Mo’
